US Directly Bombs Three Iranian Nuclear Sites During the Twelve-Day War
The United States intervenes directly in the Israel-Iran conflict by bombing three Iranian nuclear facilities, marking the first time US forces have struck targets on Iranian soil since the Islamic Revolution.
On June 22, 2025, the United States carried out direct military strikes against three Iranian nuclear facilities the most significant American military action against Iran since Operation Praying Mantis in 1988. Trump said the strikes had "totally obliterated" Iran's nuclear weapons program, a claim disputed by experts who noted that much of Iran's nuclear knowledge and some buried infrastructure remained intact. Iran retaliated by firing missiles at the US Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar. The strikes were conducted as part of the broader Twelve-Day War framework alongside Israeli operations. A ceasefire was reached on June 24, 2025, with Iran's nuclear program substantially set back but not permanently eliminated. The US strikes ended four decades of restraint against striking Iranian soil directly.
